Dollar Bank Foundation has generously donated Five Thousand Dollars ($5000) to the Adopt a Family Association's Family Needs Program.

Since its founding in 1855, Dollar Bank Has committed to helping improve the communities it serves.

We want to express our sincere appreciation to Dollar Bank for this donation and the commitment and support of its employees to our programs.

I want to thank all of our family sponsors and the donations that were made by the Dollar Bank customers and the students of Case Western Reserve University which made the 2017 Christmas program another huge success.

Through the Adopt a Family for Christmas  2017 program, we were able to help support over 250 families and close to 1200 children in the state of Ohio.

Thank you all for the generous donations you made to these families and their children.   God Bless.

Closure of the Parma Office -ANNOUNCEMENT

Our office lease is up and it had been decided to not to renew the location.  Therefore, we have closed our Parma office for good and will not consider opening another office in Cuyahoga County.

We will however, continue our community support but at a smaller scale.  We will no longer continue The Adopt a Family for Christmas Program which was our most active and rewarding program.

When I volunteered to coordinator an Adopt a Family for Christmas program in 1996, I never dreamed that the program would expand as much as it has.   I started out helping one low income family in the city of Cleveland with clothing, gifts and toys and each year I extended the area throughout Cuyahoga County, to the state of Ohio and in the last few years we have extended our help to families during the holiday season to those in the United States.

The Adopt a Family Association with the support and partnership of generous donors like you and your group, we have supported thousands of families and thousands upon thousands of low income children during the most giving time of the year, Christmas for over 20 years.   Thank you.

Thank you all for your time, support and dedication to help low income families and children in need during the holiday season.    I will suggest that your group contact the Parma Area Family Collaborative if you wish to continue to support families for the Christmas season in the future.

Once again thank you all, God Bless you for your generosity, your friendship and your support.  We will miss you all!

Work with members in your community and make a difference

For more than 20 years, Madeline Medley has devoted its energy to passionately advocating for the hungry, needy and politically under-represented members of our global family. Find out how you can contribute to the future of someone in need through donations of money and time. .

Madeline Medley, Executive Director of the Adopt a Family Association took part in the Common Ground Event held on June 24th.   Events took place all around the city of Cleveland which was hosted by the Cleveland Foundation with one goal in mind;  How and what can we do to bring people together to better the community.

Thank you Cleveland Foundation for bringing us all together for the Common Ground.

Members of the Adopt a Family Association participated in the 'Families Belong Together Rally' on June 30th at the Public Square downtown Cleveland, Ohio. Several hundreds of rallies were held throughout the country. Even though our crowd was smaller than the other cities holding the event on June 30th , we made a difference and made our voices heard.

Separating children from their parents in not right and inhuman.   We are a country that is better than this, or we should be.   Speakers came to tell of their stories regarding their encounter with ICE and pertaining to illegals entering into the United States.

Lets remember, we all came here from another country voluntarily or by force.

Speak up and be heard America!

The Adopt a Family Association was created to provide a short-term safety net and temporary caring support to Greater Cleveland area families in crisis working to maintain a stable home environment for their children as they overcome traumatic socioeconomic circumstances.  Since 1996, we have helped hundreds of families and their children by provided them with Christmas toys, food, clothing, furniture, beds or other services selected to meet specific identified needs.

Every year we hear about a family that has fallen on hard times due to recent loss of employment,  taking care of sick child or an unforeseen financial hardship that plagued them just before the holidays.  Whatever the reason, we try to help those who may need assistance during the holiday season.  Through the Adopt a Family for Christmas Program these families are matched with potential family sponsors who would like to provide these families in our community with the spirit of Christmas.

Referrals to the Adopt a Family Association from area churches, friends, neighbors and other organizations including the Rainbow Babies and Children Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, Salvation Army, 211 United Way, the City of Cleveland, FrontLine Services  and other local and county agencies with families needing help during this holiday season increased tremendously.  With the economic downturn moving slowly to an upward position and improved economy, it  has affected all of us in some form or fashion.

But for many of us not to the extremes these families are suffering.

Confronting poverty face-to-face has inspired volunteers to help the children in our community and for the Adopt a Family to secure its 501c (3) accreditation during 2007 as part of its strategic effort to become a not for profit organization.

The Adopt a Family Association's sole purpose is to help and provide temporary relief to low income, the distressed families and those who may be underprivileged in the city of Cleveland and northeastern areas of Ohio.

To serve the communities in which we live and to make a positive and real difference in our community for our children.

2016 has been a very active year for the Adopt a Family Programs, our Family Needs program has received closed to 100 or more requests for beds, furniture and household items from families in need and referrals from other agencies. With the help of in-kind donations and monetary donations , we have continue to help those who need these items.  Unfortunately we cannot meet all demands due to the volume of requests.

Of course as every year we have more families seeking help for the holiday program than we have support which means not all families who had applied were or can be adopted.   But we want to say thanks to all of the family sponsors who looked into their hearts and wallets to help families in need during the holiday season throughout the state of Ohio  and other states, our total families for 2016  was over 300 families and close to 1000 children.  This also includes  families that were invited to our Families Helping Families party with the support of Dollar Bank customers and our partnership with Dollar Bank and WKYC channel 3.
We want to say thank you to
The Fidato Group who had noted their participation in the Adopt a Family for Christmas program. They wrote a news release for The Fidato Group that was distributed to media outlets all offer the country. The release with your comments can be found by using this link to the local CBS affiliate, or this more permanent link through PRNewswire.
