Help us build a better community
2013 ADOPT A FAMILY FOR CHRISTMAS WAS ANOTHER HUGE SUCCESS! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Our Adopt a Family for Christmas 2013 has hit another milestone. With the help of family sponsors 200 families with 535 children received support through our Christmas Program. Awesome!!! We could not have done this without the help of our family sponsors, and especially our large/multiple family sponsors like the Best Buy stores who supported over 14 families throughout their retail store locations in Northern and Southern Ohio.
Ganley Dealerships provided 12 families where they have car dealerships in each city in northern Ohio. We cannot forget Chase Bank, MRI Software, OnShift, Price for Profit and Sydney Hall each had adopted 5 or more families that resides in Cuyahoga county and various counties surrounding Cuyahoga county. For the first time we were able to adopt 2 families in Columbus which was a challenge which was clearly beyond our reach, but with the help of the kind and generous donors not concerned as to where they lived, on Christmas day myself and another member of the Adopt a Family drove to Columbus to give joy to the children who may not have had Christmas.
I would also like to express a special thank you to Taylor Sharp, Jake Bernstein and his fellow business students currently studying at the University of North Carolina for allowing the Adopt a Family Association to be part of their project which was an online shopping website. This website was a new venture for us and we hope that we will continue our collaborate partnership with Taylor and Jake during our next holiday season.www.CommuniGift.com.

The Adopt a Family Association was created to provide a short-term safety net and temporary caring support to Greater Cleveland area families in crisis working to maintain a stable home environment for their children as they overcome traumatic socioeconomic circumstances. Since 1996, we have helped hundreds of families and their children by provided them with Christmas toys, food, clothing, furniture, beds or other services selected to meet specific identified needs.
Every year we hear about a family that has fallen on hard times due to recent loss of employment, taking care of sick child or an unforeseen financial hardship that plagued them just before the holidays. Whatever the reason, we try to help those who may need assistance during the holiday season. Through the Adopt a Family for Christmas Program these families are matched with potential family sponsors who would like to provide these families in our community with the spirit of Christmas.
Referrals to the Adopt a Family Association from area churches, friends, neighbors and other organizations including the Rainbow Babies and Children Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, Salvation Army, 211 United Way, the City of Cleveland and other local and county agencies with families needing help during this holiday season increased tremendously. With the economic downturn moving slowly to an upward position and improved economy, it has affected all of us in some form or fashion. But for many of us not to the extremes these families are suffering.
Confronting poverty face-to-face has inspired volunteers to help the children in our community and for the Adopt a Family to secure its 501c (3) accreditation during 2007 as part of its strategic effort to become a not for profit organization.
If you or your group would like to sponsor a family for the holidays, please go to our Sponsor Page for information as to what you need to know about sponsoring/adopting a family.
