The Adopt a Family Association's sole purpose is to help and provide temporary relief to low income, the distressed families and those who may be underprivileged in the city of Cleveland and northeastern areas of Ohio.

To serve the communities in which we live and to make a positive and real difference in our community for our children.

In Memory of Tom Ganley

The members of the Adopt a Family Association is shocked and saddened to hear of the death of Tom Ganley.  Mr. Ganley and all of his employees from all of his Ganley Dealerships throughout northern Ohio has been one of our biggest supporter of our Adopt a Family for Christmas program for over 3 years.

His generosity and caring for others is what made him great and he will sorely be missed by all. I want to express my condolences  and prayers to the family of Tom Ganley to all of his employees at Ganley and to all who knew him.

May God Bless him as he makes his journey to a better place.

In Memory of Mayor Richard Bonde

We at the office of the Adopt a Family Association were very saddened to hear of the death of Mayor Richard Bonde of Willowick.  He and his family were/are great supporters of the Adopt a Family Association programs and we will  miss him.  We pray and ask for comfort for his family and his children.

We also want to say thanks  to all  of you who had sent contributions in memory of Mayor Bonde to the Adopt a Family Assn. and we appreciate the family thinking of us to receive this generous contribution.  God Bless you all.

2015 has been a very active year for the Adopt a Family Programs, our Family Needs program has received closed to 60 or more requests for beds, furniture and household items from families in need and referrals from other agencies. With the help of in-kind donations and monetary donations , we have continue to help those who need these items.  Unfortunately we cannot meet all demands due to the volume of requests.

Of course as every year we have more families seeking help for the holiday program than we have support which means not all families who had applied were or can be adopted.   But we want to say thanks to all of the family sponsors who looked into their hearts and wallets to help families in need during the holiday season throughout the state of Ohio  and other states, our total families for 2015 was 290 families and over 700 children.  This also includes  families that were invited to our Families Helping Families party with the support of Dollar Bank customers and our partnership with Dollar Bank and WKYC channel 3.
We want to say thank you to
The Fidato Group who had noted their participation in the Adopt a Family for Christmas program. They wrote a news release for The Fidato Group that was distributed to media outlets all offer the country. The release with your comments can be found by using this link to the local CBS affiliate, or this more permanent link through PRNewswire.

Our  Adopt a Family for Christmas program has once again grown to service some families outside the state of Ohio with the support of generous donors in California, Florida, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Jersey.  We appreciate your kindness and support for helping these families and the participation through our Christmas program.

Confronting poverty face-to-face has inspired volunteers to help the children in our community and for the Adopt a Family to secure its 501c (3) accreditation during 2007 as part of its strategic effort to become a not for profit organization.

Our Mission

The Adopt a Family Association was created to provide a short-term safety net and temporary caring support to Greater Cleveland area families in crisis working to maintain a stable home environment for their children as they overcome traumatic socioeconomic circumstances.  Since 1996, we have helped hundreds of families and their children by provided them with Christmas toys, food, clothing, furniture, beds or other services selected to meet specific identified needs.

Every year we hear about a family that has fallen on hard times due to recent loss of employment,  taking care of sick child or an unforeseen financial hardship that plagued them just before the holidays.  Whatever the reason, we try to help those who may need assistance during the holiday season.  Through the Adopt a Family for Christmas Program these families are matched with potential family sponsors who would like to provide these families in our community with the spirit of Christmas.

Referrals to the Adopt a Family Association from area churches, friends, neighbors and other organizations including the Rainbow Babies and Children Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, Salvation Army, 211 United Way, the City of Cleveland, FrontLine Services  and other local and county agencies with families needing help during this holiday season increased tremendously.  With the economic downturn moving slowly to an upward position and improved economy, it  has affected all of us in some form or fashion.

But for many of us not to the extremes these families are suffering.
